Give a Little, Get a Lot: Sponsor HoHoTO Today!

You’ve heard about HoHoTO before – or maybe you’ve attended in the past – and now you’re sitting there thinking, “how can I help make HoHoTO awesome?”

Well, we’re glad you asked!

Sponsoring HoHoTO and the Daily Bread Food Bank is one of the best ways you can spread the holiday cheer this season. When you sponsor HoHoTO, you’re actually making a donation straight to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which in turn uses the funds to help feed hungry Torontonians.

The reality of hunger in Canada is sobering – in Toronto alone, more than a million visits were made to food banks last year (and use of food banks has increased 23% on a national level since 2008).

Hunger in our city is real, and it’s a result of a lack of money, not a lack of food.

Since 2008, we've raised over $285,000

Our sponsorship packages start at just $250, and we have a variety of donation levels available. There’s something to suit every business’ budget and plan, and you’ll even get a tax receipt from The Daily Bread Food Bank for your donation.

In addition, you’ll receive a few tickets to the event and drinks with every sponsorship package, but more importantly you get that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes along with doing something really awesome to give back to your community. We’ll also sing your company’s praises from the rooftops (and on our site and at the event), meaning the HoHoTO community near and far will hear just how awesome you are, too.

And if you’re not a business owner? There’s still tons of ways you can help:

  • Talk to your employer and see if they’re interested in sponsoring HoHoTO
  • Get together with a group of friends and pitch in to make a donation
  • Hold a food drive at your work – we can help arrange pick up for the items you collect
  • Tell everyone you know about HoHoTO, and encourage them to attend this years event

If you’re interested in sponsoring, please check out our 2013 sponsorship package for more info, or give me a shout by emailing sponsors@hohoto.ca to get the ball rolling.

After all, without the generous support of our sponsors, we wouldn’t be able to pull off an event like HoHoTO.

HoHoTO Is Back! Help Us Support the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank

You may have heard the story about how a group of folks came together over Twitter to organize a party called HoHoTO to raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank. You may have also heard that after five years, HoHoTO was being retired.

We’re happy to announce that HoHoTO 2013 is a go! Mark your calendars for Dec. 19!

With the blessing of its founders, a new team of organizers made up of past volunteers, attendees, supporters and others who simply could not let HoHoTO end have come together to bring it back to the Virgin Mod Club for a sixth year.

Since its inception as a single tweet, HoHoTO has earned its stripes as a community fundraiser for a good cause, as well as a holiday party where you can meet tweeps IRL. Called “the party that Twitter built,” HoHoTO is often cited as one of the first examples of a hyper-connected online social movement which made a real-world difference. Since its founding in November, 2008, HoHoTO has raised almost $285,000 for Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank.

We’re not an entity – we’re a bunch of people. We’re a community, not a foundation. We are the best holiday party you may never have been to (yet!), and a great way to help feed a lot of  hungry people.

So join us on Dec. 19, and help make this year’s HoHoTO the most successful ever in support of the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank.

This party sells out fast and furious, so be sure to get your tickets (and a few for your friends!) as soon as possible. There are two ways you can do that:

1. Get your tickets NOW! Simple, right?

2. Sponsor HoHoTO and get tickets to use, give away, or raffle off with your sponsorship deal.

You  can also participate by getting creative with food drives, swear jars, and other fun ways to raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank within your company, social networks and friends. Get your mojo on and prepare to bask in glory — it’s super awesome of you to be supporting a kick-ass holiday party for a great cause!

About Daily Bread Food Bank
Daily Bread Food Bank is fighting to end hunger in our communities.

As the hub of the food bank community in Toronto, Daily Bread supports approximately 170 member agencies in running different kinds of food relief programs. Its agencies run neighbourhood food banks where people come to access food hampers, as well as meal programs where people can access prepared meals such as soups or casseroles.

Daily Bread is the largest provider of emergency food relief in the GTA. Its member agencies see a monthly average of 66,000 client visits and serve the majority of the clients accessing food bank hampers in the city and many of the clients accessing prepared meals. Daily Bread’s boundaries encompass the former cities of East York, Toronto, Scarborough, Etobicoke and York.

Daily Bread is non-partisan and all-inclusive. Its supporters come from every income bracket, cultural background, faith group and walk of life. Whether informed by faith or social justice, the one thing they have in common is the belief that no one in our communities should go hungry.
