HoHoTO’s Girl’s Tech Tour is an extension of HoHoTO’s mission, which is to forge the next generation of founders, funders, and technology professionals. The very first Girls’ Tech Tour was held on November 18.
With the help of creative communications agency 88 Creative and the many participating organizations, girls between the ages of 13 and 18 were educated and inspired by a day of exploration, visiting Toronto-based organizations across media, fashion, wearables, professional services, education, finance, and other industries.
When FITC heard about our partnership with the YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre and our newest effort, the Girls’ Tech Tour, FITC donated 20 passes for their April, 2017, 3-day event, FITC Toronto 2017 to the Girls’ Centre.
Coming up November 18, just two weeks before our big annual holiday celebration at the Mod Club on December 1, a group of 15 girls from YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre will travel to multiple technology companies across the city as part of the inaugural Girls’ Tech Tour.
The Girls’ Tech Tour introduces young girls to professional women who work and excel within technology and science-related careers. The tour also provides these girls the opportunity to learn about various types of careers in the digital sector and the surprising application of technology across several industries.
On November 18, young women between the ages of 13 and 18 will tour office spaces and engage in interactive activity at eight different organizations across Toronto.

We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to 88 Creative for organizing and running the Girls’ Tech Tour with the support of the Girls’ Centre staff and FITC for donating 15 passes to their 3-day FITC Toronto event in April. This will provide the girls from the Girls’ Centre the opportunity to be inspired by talks, activities, and people they potentially meet.
The women who work at these companies will share their day-in-the-life experiences and explain what a career in technology looks like, inspiring this wonderful group of young women to become part of the next generation of digital professionals.
The Girls’ Centre is a female-only space that helps girls aged 9 to 18 build leadership skills, enhance their self-esteem, and achieve success in the world around them. The centre is a place for them to “build leadership skills, enhance their self-esteem, learn to live safely in their communities, make new friends and learn to understand and challenge the world around them.”
