HoHoTO raises $22,500 for YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre at this year’s HoHOTO holiday benefit party

HoHoTO has done it again.

With tremendous team effort and the help of sponsors, community supporters, and attendees, HoHoTO raised $22,500 in support of YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre at the annual HoHoTO holiday benefit party.

The HoHoTO team presented the girls with the big red and white cheque on the HoHoTO stage last Thursday.

“It’s because of sponsors, community support, and event attendees that we’re able to contribute to the Girl’s Centre and the activities they provide that lead to young women joining us in the workforce in a few years,” said HoHoTO Co-Chair Lee Dale during the cheque presentation.

With their faces beaming with excitement, the girls accepted the large donation with grace and gratitude. Continue reading “HoHoTO raises $22,500 for YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre at this year’s HoHOTO holiday benefit party”

HoHoTO’s first Girls’ Tech Tour is an inspiring success

HoHoTO’s Girl’s Tech Tour is an extension of HoHoTO’s mission, which is to forge the next generation of founders, funders, and technology professionals. The very first Girls’ Tech Tour was held on November 18.

With the help of creative communications agency 88 Creative and the many participating organizations, girls between the ages of 13 and 18 were educated and inspired by a day of exploration, visiting Toronto-based organizations across media, fashion, wearables, professional services, education, finance, and other industries.

FITC's Giving Tuesday

We are extremely grateful to FITC for their support with this year’s HoHoTO holiday party and HoHoTO initiatives, including the Girls’ Tech Tour.

Dim all the lights and pump up the volume, this year’s DJ lineup for HoHoTO at the Mod Club on Dec 1.

HoHoTO is two weeks away! As we inch closer to the event, we will be sharing various details regarding what to expect at the party that Twitter started.

In particular, we are extremely excited to announce the HoHoTO DJ lineup for this year’s holiday party.

We selected a lineup of DJs whom we know are capable to set the atmosphere for an electric party like HoHoTO.

#GivingTuesday is easy. Pick a charity. Participate!

With the festive season upon us, it’s a time for giving, connecting and improving community, and acknowledging the things we’re grateful for.

Giving Tuesday is a movement to create an international day of giving at the beginning of the holiday season. It was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism. Learn more from the #GivingTuesday website. It’s about taking action where you find it’s most needed. It’s about donation, volunteering, and community service. In our case it’s all these and having a party!

Please see some of the inspiring work our partners past and present engage in. And discover more below.

YWCA Toronto Girls’ Centre

YWCA Toronto has created a space for girls to speak openly about how to treat themselves, and how to treat each other, in an effort to challenge gender stereotypes in media and more. Here, older girls get a chance to lead. And younger girls get role models they can relate with. Current programs include mentoring, media creation, and Summer and March Break camps about life skills and self-esteem. The YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre also partners with schools, community agencies and organizations to offer girls support, help and guidance.

Come to HoHoTO on Friday, December 11th and support the YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre! Please also participate year-round, sponsor HoHoTO, volunteer or spread the word.
