Serving the digital community has been rewarding, but with some changes to the team that’s brought you HoHoTO over the past four years and helped carry on the legacy of this amazing community event for the past decade, we’ve made the difficult decision to not host in 2018 the annual HoHoTO celebration.
We’re looking towards 2019 with some amazing youth programming and professional events, and are open to ideas, collaborators, leaders, and volunteers to bring together our amazing community at a holiday party next year. Would you like to build and continue the annual holiday party? If you want to help bring this community together, we have some great ideas on how to transition the event for the next generation. Please get in touch.
On your ticket, you’ll see an extra field that let’s you make a song request. The sooner you get your request in, the easier it will be for us to honour it, so don’t delay. Here’s some hits from this year to set the tone for the evening.
We have a number of generous sponsors who have donated some great swag that you can win by, wait for it, just buying a ticket for the event and being there to accept your winnings. That’s it. Enjoy the party, win some stuff! Here’s what’s up for grabs:
1) Blue Jays fans! After a stellar year in the field and late-season hitting surge, you have the chance to bring a Ryan Goins autographed bat home. Thanks to the Blue Jays for the kind donation.
2) From Wild North Apparel we have three great prizes: a plus gift basket, an $80 gift certificate, and a luscious cashmere scarf with gloves.
3) Interactive Ontario has kindly offered up a one-year membership, and you’ll also have the chance to win one of 5 tickets to their topical iLunch series of content and networking events.
What happened to the Raffle?
If you’re a past HoHoTO attendee you know all about the raffle everyone loves because you get to spend 30 minutes at the event ignoring people so you can buy tickets, tear them apart, deliberate over which raffle packages you’d like to chance winning, before stuffing those tickets one by one, over and over, in a variety of ballot boxes. Well, we want you to spend all that time enjoying the party, so instead, this year you get to enjoy fabulous door prizes! ❄
HoHoTO began in 2008 with a call to arms on Twitter: Toronto’s digital mavens can do more for our community.
From that first event and every year that’s followed, we’ve fed countless Torontonians with over $350,000 raised for the Daily Bread Food Bank.
This year, impact and opportunity are our focus, as we bring the digital community together in support of organizations that directly affect beneficial change in our technology ecosystem.
Organizations with impact
Participating in HoHoTO year-round, beginning with this year’s holiday event Dec 11, 2015, are a number of organizations who are helping to drive opportunity, diversity, and innovation in the workplace now and in the future.
HoHoTO will be the hub that connects their efforts to engage more women and minorities in entrepreneurial, digital, and engineering pursuits.
This year’s participating organizations are:
YWCA Toronto with money raised going to YWCA Toronto’s Girls’ Centre
Ladies Learning Code and their women & youth coding and technology programs
And we’re looking to bring more organizations on board to participate year-round.
